I feel like I was extra excited about this module. I have gamed or been a gamer since 1990 when I started playing text-based games like Zork and MUD worlds. I kept trying to figure out how a Historian could make an exciting game, something they might want to return for. Most of the examples that were seen were simulation-type games, not virtual worlds or games with rewards. I was impressed with the workhouse simulation of a real workhouse. But it wouldn’t be a game I would think many people would repeat playing. In discussion, I think most of us realized that simulation and making realistic environments could work. I am considering doing something like this, but I must find something to connect gameplay. Blackhaven was disappointing. It starts in a museum of a virtual plantation. The graphics were pretty good, and it was like visiting a real-life museum. But I think this is why I wasn’t into the game. I could go to museums and have a similar experience but hands-on and not worrying about how to move about in a virtual museum. You also must download it from Steam.
